koi scrubs on TV!

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

In the past, koi scrubs have made appearances on shows like TNT’s nursing drama HawthoRNe and others. Recently, our Ashley top was spotted on the Bravo reality show, Flipping OutHere’s a link to the clip.

Last night, our men’s scrubs made an appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Both Jimmy and guest Johnny Knoxville were sporting our scrubs in a skit involving the board game OperationHere’s a link to the clip. (Warning, it’s not for the squeamish.)

It’s cool that our scrubs are appearing more and more on the pop cultural landscape. If you spot koi scrubs on a TV show, we’d love to hear about it. One more thing. . . can anyone get us on Oprah?

David was a great sport. He visited our offices last month when my team threw me a surprise 40th birthday party. (Thanks, team, for embarrassing me.) It was an amazing event and I am incredibly grateful to the wonderful crew of people I am surrounded by.

I wasn’t overjoyed to turn 40, but I have to admit that I have so much more to contribute to the world today than when I was 30. I am more confident and comfortable with who I am. So if that’s what getting older means, we should all embrace it.

I would live to hear from you. What does or did turning 40 mean to you?

Special thanks to the crew of United Airlines at JFK airport for allowing me on the plane during the tornado weather in NYC so I could make it home for my birthday.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

As many of you know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You can join koi in the fight against breast cancer by purchasing items from our exclusive Hope Breast Cancer Collection. koi is donating $2 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every limited edition Kathryn Healing Love top (115PRM-HLV) and Demi Mariposa Fuchsia top (134PRM-MAF) sold through December 2010, for a minimum contribution of $20,000. You can find these special tops, while supplies last, at select koi retailers.

Just yesterday, koi founder and president Kathy Peterson met with the folks at Susan G. Komen. Here’s her report:

“I had a great meeting with our friends at Susan G. Komen. It is our second year partnering with their organization. We are excited because we expect to beat last year’s contribution of $33,646 to them. I am so proud of our partnership with them and will continue to support their organization.

There are so many choices of items to buy in support of breast cancer. I want your dollars to count. Please check to make sure proceeds of the item you are purchasing go toward a legitimate charitable organization. Here are some tips to help you identify those items. Most if not all charitable organizations required special labeling of the product to include the amount of the donation per item and the total minimum commitment the company has made them. Many organizations list their corporate sponsors on their websites. Don’t be afraid to ask the store you are purchasing from if the item you are buying benefits breast cancer. Every dollar counts, so let’s make sure ours goes toward a great cause.”

“Healthier, Happier You” October Update!

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

It’s hard to believe it’s already October. To our “Healthier, Happier You” contestants, we hope you are continuing to make progress toward your weight-loss goals. We’d also like to share this inspiration letter we recently received from Tabatha W.:

“I am sad to say I missed out on joining your Healthier Happier you contest! I would like to share my story with you being I smiled with happiness reading that you set up something to inspire others.

I sat with my family last Christmas and said to myself oh more pictures, bad feelings looking at them and I was the biggest one, I said to myself I can do this I can be healthy an happy again. I started on my journey I cut back in meals and ate healthy foods it was so hard to fight hunger pains because the salad or saucer plate with grilled chicken and vegetables wasn’t filling at the time and everyone else had pasta extra meat and dessert. Long down my journey I am proud to say no pain no gain. I made it and I feel great I went from a 1x and 2x to a medium. I Tabatha W. dropped from 230 pounds to 165 pounds I could never be happier, though I missed your contest (darn) I have won. I have won a happier healthier me and to you Mrs. Peterson the best of luck, I know you can do it, and Thanks for making awesome work clothes I went out and bought me 4 new outfits in my new size and everyone love your taste they complement me everyday how nice they are. I found your contest searching the internet just in case store did not have all your styles and can’t wait to see how well you do.”

Thanks, Tabatha, for sharing your story. You’re an inspiration to us all. Now here’s Kathy Peterson’s latest report on her own progress in the “Healthier, Happier You” program:

I am a little sad to say that I only managed to lose another pound. I have a ways to go and less than 3 months to do it. Quite a challenge. It is great success stories like Tabatha’s that keeps me motivated. She went from a size 2X to a medium. Pretty incredible. Great job Tabatha!!!”
