This Thursday evening, November 19, Parkway Scrubs in Huntsville, Alabama will be hosting a special preview of koi’s Spring 2010 Collection. koi founder and designer Kathy Peterson will be there in person to show the new line and meet customers. We’d like to send a warm thanks to everyone who attended our Los Angeles-area Warehouse Sale this past weekend. The response was far greater that we ever anticipated. The line started forming a couple hours before we opened our doors on Friday and the crowds never let up until we closed our doors. We do apologize to everyone for the long lines on Friday. Things were a little more manageable on Saturday with a nice steady crowd throughout the day, although a marathon that was being run near the warehouse held up traffic for a bit Saturday morning. Hopefully, that didn’t deter too many from attending. Besides some great deals on koi tops and pants, those who attended the sale had the opportunity to preview our new Spring 2010 collection. koi founder and designer Kathy Peterson was there both days from start to finish, rolling up her sleeves, working the sale. She was glad that she got the chance to meet and talk with many of you at the event. At the end of the sale, we were all happy, but very exhausted. Again, thanks to everyone who attended!

Travels with Kathy Peterson, part three

Earlier this year, koi designer Kathy Peterson and the koi team journeyed to Asia. The third destination was China. Here are some of Kathy’s thoughts on the China portion of the trip:

China is always an interesting place to visit. I always amazed by the speed in which they put up buildings especially in Shanghai. The skyscrapers are pretty spectacular. It is always gruelling going to China because it means visiting factories for sourcing and production. The factories are always a few hours outside of the city and it means 14+ hour days. We usually find our novelty fabrics and trimmings here.

I visited one of our factories on this trip while they were on production with our Fall styles. I was really happy with what I saw. The quality looked good and I was impressed with the workers and condition of the factory. As a company we are very particular about the factories we use. It is a constant challenge to find factories in China that have good working condition, quality workmanship and are stable and reliable. In the my Asia trip video, you will get a glimpse of my factory visit. On the way to the factory I stopped at a restaurant and saw an orange fish in a fish bowl. I always take it as a good omen for a successful trip.
