The Story so far…

In 2006, in a small, cramped apartment in Los Angeles, we
started koi with a simple mission. Make scrubs people love to wear.

Back then, “scrubs” and “fashion” were not words that you
would often hear in the same sentence. So we set out to create scrubs that are
not only fashion forward, but also super functional. Flattering to wear. And ultra comfortable, even during those extra long shifts.

After all, if you wear scrubs for work, shouldn’t they make you look and feel amazing?

We think so.That’s why we’re continually tweaking and testing, adding new design details, and experimenting with new fabrics and processes to make our scrubs even better.

2006

Kathy Peterson launches koi. The end is near for generic, ill-fitting scrubs.

Kathy designs theLindsey pant. Nurses everywhere rejoice.

We move in our first office space in Santa Monica.

2007

Our first scrubs arrive in store.The good: people love our scrubs.

The bad: people get mad because we can’t make them fast enough.

Our first Warehouse sale (This annual event is a must for every koi fanatic).

2008

Our first collaboration with tokidoki. Scrubs just got a little more fun.

2009

We launch our first men’s collection.

Now men can enjoy fashionable scrubs, too.

2010

We move to a bigger office/warehouse space in Santa Monica. Room to stretch.

2011

We team up with Marc Ecko to launch Ecko scrubs.

With the introduction of koi by Sanita clogs, koi style is now available for your feet!

2012

We introduce Orange Standard scrubs.

2014

Our koi Stretch collection makes its debut.

2015

We reach100,000 likes on our Facebook page. Hurray!

2016

We introduce our modern, athletic koi Lite collection.

We celebrate our 10th Anniversary. Time flies when you’re having fun.

Our silky soft, easy care koiTech collection makes its debut.

We team up with Kellogg’s to introduce fun scrubs and accessories based on characters including Tony the Tiger, Toucan Sam and more.

2017

We introduce our ultra stylish, ultra feminine Mariposa collection.

We launch koi Basics, offering the world awesome scrubs at a great price.

2019

We partnered with fashion icon Betsey Johnson to introduce our Betsey Johnson collection. Life is too short for boring scrubs!

2020

We went on a mission to create the best scrubs you’ll ever love.

The result? Our new koi Next Gen collection that’s ultra comfortable with 4-way stretch.

2021

We launch our Planet koi collection, featuring scrubs made with recycled materials for a more sustainable world. Plus, we partner with One
Tree Planted to plant one tree for every Planet koi garment sold.

We introduce the koi Lite Stretch collection featuring our most advanced 4-way stretch fabric.

We move to our current office location in Torrance, CA.

2022

We collaborate with French Bull to introduce the vibrant French Bull by koi collection of scrubs and accessories.

We move our warehouse to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Avondale, AZ.

We introduce our latest website update with easier navigation and advanced customer options.

2023

To date, we've planted over 194,000 trees through sales of Planet koi sustainable scrubs and our partnership with One Tree Planted!
